The Allahabad High Court has directed the UP government to implement a solid solution to curb teacher absenteeism, particularly in village schools serving EWS students. The court highlighted that lack of an effective attendance system since Independence has affected poor children’s right to education. Justice Praveen Kumar Giri emphasised using virtual or electronic methods for monitoring attendance and warned habitual absenteeism must not be tolerated. The next hearing is scheduled for November 10.
